What's included in the classroom teaching?

• During class days you learn about child development, how to support children’s learning and how to communicate effectively with children, employers and nanny placement agencies.
  
  
• You also learn first aid, safety awareness, how to care for sick children and the importance of play.
  
  
• There are fun days playing with playdough, paints and fascinating "goop".
  
  
• You spend one day cooking (and eating) everything from tasty snacks to full meals. On another day you practise water safety techniques at a public swimming pool.
  
  
• The professional aspects of being a nanny, such as how to find a job, pay taxes and negotiate an employment agreement are also covered.
  
  
• Classes are interactive, with an emphasis on student participation and fun.
  
  
• Tutors use colour, movement and music to promote active learning.
