- You need to be 17, or nearly 17
- You need to have a desire to work with children and the motivation to study and complete assignments at level 3, NZQA Framework
- You need to be a responsible, honest person in good health with good safety awareness and a happy and positive outlook
- It is useful, although not essential, for you to have a full drivers licence
Course Costs
- There is an application fee of $30.00, refundable if you end up not doing the course.
- If you are not already registered with NZQA you need to do this. (We can help you with this). The registration fee, payable to NZQA, is $25.00
- Once you have successfully completed the course, you obtain the National Certificate from NZQA. The fee for this, payable to NZQA, is $15.00
- You need to meet the cost of transport to and from the college and to training families. The college provides you with a travel allowance, usually around 50% of your travel costs to and from your training families.
- You need to provide your own toiletries if you are living in, and pocket money to see you through the 22 week.
The course tuition fee paid by the training family covers your course fee and all other costs, including all course materials and two text books.
