Scarlet Lees from the July 2009 course has the following to say about the Wellington Nannies College course:
"The course at Wellington Nannies College is full of fun, hands on learning and is affordable. The fact that you don't have to pay huge fees is what attracted me most towards the course. I also enjoy working with children so that was two big thumbs up for enrolling. I have always been a bit nervous about going to study when I could end up with a huge student loan at the end or find out halfway through the study that I was bored and not enjoying it. With the course being only six months there was no time to even think about being bored, so I enrolled ready to take on everything there was to be a nanny.
My placement family were the first family I was matched with. I have been looking after twin 18 month old girls. The girls are very lucky to live in a lovely house with heaps of space to run around in. The girls and I have bonded really well together. I also get on really well with the rest of the family, which helps when it comes to guidance or feedback of how I was parenting the girls. Having good open communication is the key to making the six montjhs work smoothly. The girls and I love to read, dance, explore, go on swings and slides and take day trips to places like the beach and Te Papa.
I think the most important skills that I have learnt from looking after the twins and doing the assignments on the course have been planning, being able to do two things at once and gaining the confidence to look after someone else's children. If the course at Wellington Nannies College wasn't so hands on, (as in being right there in the family) I don't think I would have gained all these skills to help me become a qualified Nanny," |
